There is an old say that “a man’s home is his castle” which I believe includes the outdoor living space as well. To often I have seen yards with so much potential but because of a lack of vision by the homeowner that living space was wasted with nothing but overgrown plants, weeds, and other debris.

Thinking outside of the box, however, can turn that run down backyard into a garden oasis creating interest that says home sweet home where the homeowner can kick back and relax in his garden paradise enjoying the comforts of a private setting connecting with nature in an environment that is pleasing and inviting.

In order to create a garden, oasis begins with what we mentioned earlier and that’s with a vision from there it’s all a matter of following through with a thought-out plan. Below we will be looking at some simple but yet effective ways to turn that nightmare (run-down backyard) into a dream garden.

Turning Your Nightmare into a Dream Garden

So you want to turn that garden that is an eyesore into a dream garden here are some ideas that are sure to put you on the right path to your garden paradise.

If your backyard is overgrown with weeds and debris the first thing is to do some spring cleaning from there it’s all a matter of putting your plan in place. This may call for a bit of muscle and some help but when it’s all done you will be so happy with the results.

Besides installing flowering and other ornamental plants including a few features will bring that much-needed flavor.

10 Ideas in Creating a Backyard Oasis

Birdbath

Installing a birdbath is a great garden feature, I prefer a birdbath that has water running automatically because the sound of trickling water is so relaxing not to mention you may have a visitor or two who may stop for a bath or cool drink of water.

Outdoor furniture

Make your outdoor living experience an exciting and relaxing one by investing in outdoor furniture, why spend most of your time indoors when you can spend some of that time enjoying the outdoors even if that means sitting back and relaxing in the quiet of the day or afternoon listening to the sweet chirping of birds in nearby trees?

Garden lights

Don’t limit your outdoor activities only during the daytime but rather install garden lights to extend the evening way after the sunset. Spending time in your garden at night time offers such a great experience with the help of garden lights so light your pathway to extend into the night hours.

Adding a kitchen

Adding an outdoor kitchen is a sure way to take your outdoor living to the next level. This is a great way to prepare your favorite recipes while enjoying nature. A setting like this is great for hosting parties and other events as your guest enjoys many dishes prepared by your hands.
