  1. I like the idea of naturally flavoring foods. I cannot have a huge sodium intake, so we eat mostly fresh meats, vegetables, and fruit. We rarely eat canned, packaged, or frozen foods. I do use a LOT of garlic pepper. So I am going to use your suggestion with natural herbs. I think we will get a little more variety and flavor with our foods. I never really thought about it 🙂

  2. I have all these herbs in my cupboard and I try to acquire them fresh when possible- you can really taste the difference then. I’m quite a fan of heat also and find that cooking with chilli, oil and vinegar really gives food some flavour. It’s a shame that it is so difficult to get naturally flavoured food these days. I wish there were fast food restaurants selling this type of meal.

    • Hello Mark so good that you have commented, hope all is going well with you. Herbs sure do make a big difference and I can’t imagine life without them. I love cooking with them myself, especially rosemary, basil, thyme, garlic and chives. If fast foods were selling these type of meals, that would really be great and that would also be a lot of nice healthy meals. But the good part is that we can prepare these kinds of meals from our kitchen to enjoy. Thanks again, wishing you all the best and keep eating healthy my friend.

I’m also a big believer in the use of medicinal herbs. Do you use or write about herbs for their healing properties?

  5. I battle arthritis and I began eating more fresh whole foods and find my inflammation not as bad. I am still a work with my habits but for the most part eating a more plant based diet has helped tremendously. i haven’t started to grow my own herbs or veggies yet as it is cold out but it’s my plan to begin a garden this year.

I was wondering if these herbs can be steeped for consumption. I would love to begin drinking my herbs as well. Is this possible to steep them or blend them? Garlic and thyme are my favorite herbs to cook with. My wife tried a window sill garden but never went through with it. This year I plan to follow through with an all natural grow. One last thing what is your favorite herb out of them all!

    • Hello Shannon so good to meet you, I am sorry to hear of how you have been battling with arthritis. but it is good to know that what you are including in your diet is bring you relief. You can blend or steep them but the taste may be a bit too strong.

It would be good however to use them in freshly prepared salads or lightly steamed vegetables. My favorite herbs are garlic, rosemary, chives basil and thyme. Hope this helps, all the best to you and have a good day.
