Using Spices to Promote Health and Relieve Stress
We live in a world that seems to put so much demand on us, from raising a family to working, paying bills, etc… The doctor’s office is filled every year with persons having stress-related issues that seem to be too overbearing for them. Many have turned to alcohol, prescription drugs and whatever other means they can find to bring relief.
Stress can cause all sorts of things to happen to our bodies from mental breakdown to a nervous breakdown, I have heard stories of persons being under stress and what it did to them. In fact, I know of someone who became so stressed out that they lost their mind.
Stress is also one of the reasons why many homes are torn apart, this is so sad, but stress is a real issue that must be dealt with, we cannot deny it or simply sweep it under the rug, we must face it for what it is and deal with it. Even as you drive on the streets other drivers driving in such a reckless way, this too can be contributed to stress which we call road rage.
what is, even worse is persons committing suicide seeking to escape it all simply because of feeling stress out, feeling like there is no way out of their situation.

Hi Norman, nice article!
Spices that spice up the Holidays can be very soothing to rattled nerves. What you have listed are very good choices.
Ginger is also wonderful for upset stomach, and along with Turmeric, has wonderful anti-inflammatory properties.
Cilantro and Parsley are helpful for detoxing yourself of the heavy metals which creep into our civilized lives from many sources.
Cheers and awesome health!

Good day Oren it is so good to hear from you again, and thanks for commenting, spices do work wonders for us and they are so beneficial to our bodies so lets continue to take advantage of them and using them as often as we can. All the best to you and have a good evening.
Hi and thanks for this information.
I have just moved house and to be honest the stress of all that is enough. But since I did this 3 months ago I have found the bank account low on funds and the stress has built up for sure.
To be honest I was looking for information regarding symptoms (which I have found here on this page) and i can see some of them are applying to me for sure.
I did not want to go to the doctors as i am not really a doctor going kind of person. I was looking for something more herbal and spices related!
I am suffering with a lot of depression at the moment mainly due to money, is there anything you can suggest? Or the best road to take?
Many Thanks
Chris
Hello Chris it is so good to meet you, and I know what you are talking about because I was there also at one point in my life, besides what I have posted you can try taking walks in the park along with taking in all of the beauty that is around you, going on the beach and taking in all that nice sea breeze,
Do not focusing on what you are going through, relax, get involved in a hobby you know things that you like to do or would like to do, lay back relax and play some nice soft classical music, avoid negative thinking in spit of, be positive and know that things will get better but do sit down and put a plan in place and take it one day at a time.
And the most important one for me is that I talk and prayed to God, talking is a great way to help relief stress. God loves you and He will listen and help you. Yes I understand how life can be sometimes believe me I was there, but you must learn as I pointed out in my post not to take life so serious, but count Your blessings name them one by one
Because stress will only add to what you are going through, it will not make it better and that is not good for your health so just do your best and don’t sweat the rest, because a better day is coming for you and I will keep you in my prayers. God bless you and have a good day.
Very informative article about stress relieving spices. Some of them my wife are grown in the greenhouse as Basil-Basil, Rosemary, and Sage-sage.
I like points 3 and 4 in your stress signs list and number six is the very cool point.
Honestly, I did not know about its stress removal options. And one more my two cents, dealing with plants and digging a soil itself is stress therapy.
Hello andrejs it is so good to see you again, I am glad that I could help and it is good to know that both you and your wife are also involved in gardening. Spices do work wonders for us, all the best to you and have a good day.
Hi Norman,
Thanks for the spices list. I didn’t know that spices can reduce stress. Do you have any suggestion on how often and how much as per quantity we should take them so as to totally relieve oneself of stress? I know it’s not supposed to replace medicine if your situation is a little deep, but I would love to know if I can go all natural so as to not be buried in stress which can lead to depression.
Thanks for any advice you can dispense.
Regards,
Pitin
Hello Pitin it is so good to see you again, herbs do do wonders and they are good for you. If you are using turmeric just a pinch but if you are using herbs just a few leaves, about 6- 8. You can use herbs every day or if you like 3-4 times a week.

Hi Norman,
Great article! Stress can cause so many damages and can lead to serious illnesses. I’ve heard that Passiflora is one of the best plants to relieve stress:) But know that I’ve read your article, I am convinced many other plants can help.Quick question, please. Is there a quantity not to be exceeded when using these plants?
Plants can sometimes be even stronger than medical stress relievers:)
Thank you!
Hello my friend it is good to see you, spices are great and they can benefit us in so many ways, when using herbs like basil for example you can use anywhere from 8-12 leaves, some people use more some use less. I did not know that there were so many spices to relieve stress! I like nutmeg, vanilla and the passion flowers the best. When I am cooking, I don’t use a lot of spices, so most of them I don’t even have π But I can see putting vanilla and nutmeg into hot drinks or even burning a vanilla scented candle. These are great ideas!

I experience stress on a frequent basis and I’m always looking for natural remedies for things. I was aware of the use of spices for stress, although I knew they could be used for other medical reasons. I’m going to have to try some of these spices rather than taking some pharmaceutical for it. This is very helpful. π
Hello Shannon it is so nice to hear from from you again, spices are so amazing and can do our bodies a whole lot of good so we should take advantage of them. Glad that I could help, all the best to you and have a good day.
Looks like my son could do with some of these scents! He exhibits some of the signs of stress from time to time and enjoys scented items including herbs we use for cooking, like oregano.
As he is really picky with his food, i find that the best way for him to get these scents is to include them in his meals. I sprinkle basil, rosemary, and oregano into his rice. Not at the same time. He loves them all.
Hello Regina it is so good to see you, Spices are so beneficial to our bodies therefore we should take full advantage of them by including them in our diet. Keep on doing what you are doing all the best to you and have a good day.
Great info! As a culture we are all way too stressed. I think everyone should be better educated on this conscious eating style. We can all heal together π
I was happily surprised to find Vanilla on your list. I recently purchased a Celestial Tea sample pack with Honey Vanilla Chamomile and I have been very drawn to it every night. It is currently the holiday season so maybe my body was craving the Vanilla to help me relax. Very delicious tea!
Hello TryBelle it is so good to meet you, Spices do wonders for our bodies therefore we should take full advantage and give our bodies the treat and healing that it needs. All the best to you and have a good day.
You have a great website that is full of gardening information!
I was surprised at how long the list of many ways that stress effects us was. I left a comment on your website just a moment ago. But as I am thinking about what I read, I have another question. I wonder if it is better to eat the spices on your list or to be able to smell them?
Hello it is so good to meet you, spices is so beneficial therefor we should take full advantage of them. It is better in my opinion to consume them. Hope this helps, all the best to you.
Hi Norman,
Stress is certainly rampant across every timezone, and I found this to be an article that tackles the problem from a different angle, or maybe even from outside the box.
It’s a scary thing to learn about the garbage that we shovel ourselves full of, particularly this time of year… It’s good to know though, that there are natural remedies that we can use to dampen the stress, that are natural and far healthier than “comfort food.”
Thanks for the post!
Hello Brain it is so good to meet you, Spices are so beneficial for the body and we should take full advantage of them because of their healing wonders and the best part is that they are all natural so we don’t have too worry about any side effects, this is what makes spices so awesome. Thanks for commenting all the best to you and have a good day.
Second time I had to read your article. With the holidays brings a little stress. I had a curious question though. Does it matter how you use these spices? Is the natural form better than say, buying the spice in a jar which I assume is freeze dried? Will they be more effective if used naturally? I don’t keep a lot of them on hand, and thought about starting a spice garden.
Hello my good friend, man I tell you spices surely do work wonders. I believe that we can cook them which is good or we can even use them in salads or as a tea , In my opinion natural is more better because it is more potent when used fresh. Hope this helps, all the best to you and have a good day.
well i do agree that we live in a world where we are surrounded by many type of stresses and to come out of that we need to relieve our body.
So gardening can be one of the stress buster tool to relieve stress but as you most of the peolle live in flats in metro so most of them do not have gardens but still they can maintain small gardens in their flats in the form of POTS.They can grow various flowers in small pots.
In singapore where there is scarcity of space people over there go for roof gardening which is excellent way of coming closer to nature and relieve your stress
Thanks
