We all need sleep, including insects and animals. It is just something about sleep that causes our bodies to go through a rejuvenation process making us feel energized.

I had never thought about how plants could actually help get better sleep. I love the smell of jasmine although I’m not sure it would do good indoors. But thanks to this write-up I plan on planting one outside my bedroom sliding door. I figure if I can get the scent by leaving the door slightly open this could do the trick. I’ll also be picking up some of the smaller plants you suggest. Much appreciated.

What a wonderfully natural alternative to popping pills to get to sleep every night – I’ve never heard of this angle before but it’s extremely interesting!
I know how important sleep is to the body’s DIY repair system – it’s the only time it can carry out a few repair functions that are impossible to fulfil during our waking hours.
Out of all of the plants you’ve listed above – which do you use yourself for a good night’s sleep?
It is always good to go natural because we don’t have to worry about side effects. All of these plants do help but if I was to choose I would choose and install jasmine near my bedroom window because the sweet aroma works wonder. So happy that I could help.

Sleeping well is one of the most essential factors for a healthy life. As you said, lack of sleep is very harmful. It has negative effects on your concentration, it will increase the chance of depression and etc.
In today’s modern world, many people don’t experience deep sleep at nights and anything that can help that without chemical medicines is gold. I do yoga and I drink natural teas to have dipper sleep at night but I didn’t know about the benefits of plants. Thanks for sharing this with us.

This is a timely article for me because coincidentally I did not sleep well last night, and it’s negatively affecting my productivity. I can’t think well, and my body is tired. Sleep is so vital for good health.
I have used jasmine and lavendar essential oils for sleep, and they do help. I’ve always associated aloe vera as a remedy for sunburns, but didn’t know it could be used as a sleep aid. I haven’t heard of the other sleep aids you mentioned in your article so thank you for the tips. I’ll have to try them out.

Hi Norman,
I rarely post comments on the internet, but I couldn’t go without thanking you for this amazing post which contains a lot of helpful and interesting information.Normally I have problems with sleeping – I wake up a couple of times during the night and if that’s not enough… the slightest sound can also wake me. Of course, all that leads to not getting enough sleep. I didn’t know that plants can affect your sleep but, after reading your post, I must say that I learned quite a lot and will definitely make some changes at home and add more flowers.
Thank you,Nick.
Hello it is so nice to meet you and so sorry to hear about your sleep pattern but it is so good to know that plants are here to help us. So happy that I can help and please let m know how it goes. All the best of success and have a good day.
I totally agree, sleeping for 6-8 hours is very important as it will help our body function better. I work different shifts and so you can just imagine how my sleeping time would vary every week. I always try to get enough sleep but there are just times when no matter how tired I am from work, I couldn’t sleep very well. I have actually read somewhere that some plants can make us sleep better but I’m not sure how this works. Well, I guess it’s time for me to find out. These days, I’m willing to try anything that will help me sleep better, except sleeping pills of course. As much as possible I don’t want to resort to some drugs just to get the sleep that my body needs.I like Aloe Vera and lavenders; is it okay to have both of them in the room or one plant is enough? And should I let them sit in my room or having them is the living room is okay?
Hello so sorry to hear about that but it is good to know that you ar seeking natural ways to get a goods night sleep. Both plants can be kept in your bed room ensure though that they are getting sufficient light along with the proper amount of water and you will be find.
Please let me know how it gose an wishing you the sweetess of sleep. Have a good day.
I often have trouble fall asleep at night. Have tried many kinds of tea and herbs. None of these really works on me. The plants you mentioned, how does it work? Do I just keep them in the bedroom and they will help me sleep better?
Sounds amazing. Will definitely give it a try. Would be nice to see some pictures of each plant.
Thanks for sharing.
Hello so good to hear from you. Plants are pretty amazing in what they can do. Having a few container plants can really help with a goods night rest. Make sure and place plants in and area of your room that gets atleast 3-4 hours of sunlight, along with daily care. For more insight a talk with your nurseyman or graden center rep. will futher help. Please let me know how it gose and have a good day.
Hello Den, I loved your article, It teaches a lot of things and it is interesting to read.
When I was younger, about 20 years old, I used to sleep during day time and I must tell you that it was a horrible feeling, I lost a lot of my energy, I had a lot of troubles to focus and to be productive and obviously I lost the majority of my day.
Now, I sleep very well and I appreciate that. I don’t need a lot of sleeping, about 6 hours per night, but I am more productive and I wake up naturally at 5 AM. No need to put an alarm ๐
It is a blessing to have such a good habit in my life. I appreciate the silence and the smell of fresh nights.
That said, I am aware that my comment is more related to my good sleeping habits but it was due to a plant as well. My mother in law gave me a teapot called “Dream Tea” and it helped me sleep earlier. I heard that Tizane is also a good beverage that induces sleep.
The plant that you wrote about in your article are related to purifying the surrounding air and creating a good smell in your room but I find than not that easy to entertain. What do you advice a newbie to keep their plant fresh and healthy for a long period of time?
I hope my experiences induce sleep lol Thanks a lot and have a good night as well ๐
Youba.
