The dairy aisles of just about every supermarket are beautifully displayed with assorted brands of yogurts from every flavor you can imagine. I am always amazed when browsing this section, it seems as if the demand for yogurt has increased because of the many health benefits they offer.

Yogurts are delicious and have such a soothing effect. Many years ago after graduating from high school, I worked as a busboy at a resort and one of the things I remembered was yogurts of all flavors that were a part of the breakfast menu which the guest took advantage of.

Although yogurt can be eaten at any time of the day it seems that this popular food is eaten mostly during breakfast hour. Yogurt makes a healthy treat in the evening just before bedtime so if you crave a snack just before calling it a day then yogurt makes a great choice.

I love yogurt and have enjoyed them for years. I love their many flavors but one of my favorites is a pina colada. Now that I am married with a family my wife ensures that there is always yogurt on our table after a trip from the supermarket.

You may be asking the question what does yogurt have to do with a gardening and landscaping website, well here at Eden’s Garden one of our goals is to teach you about the healthy side of fruits, herbs, and veggies that are found in many products we use and benefit from so greatly, yogurt being one of them.

  1. You have so much information about yogurt that I had no idea about!

    February 16th…..MY NEW FAVOURITE DAY!

One of my favourite go-to yogurt snacks is frozen yo-go drops!

I put the yogurt in a Ziploc bag, cut a small tip off at the bottom, squeeze little drips onto a sheet pan with tinfoil or wax paper and freeze them! Once frozen I just put them in a Ziploc bag and they are a delicious snack!

Thanks for all the extra info!

  2. Norman,
Wow I want to go eat a bunch of yogurt like right now! LOL

I honestly didn’t know of all the health benefits of yogurt but have always enjoyed eating it. I love loading mine up with granola and coconut shavings as well.

I have heard some of my friends and people in my life saying not all yogurt is the same because fo the additional flavorings, preservatives, etc. that the larger companies are putting in there yogurts. Is this true?

What yogurts/brands do you eat/approve of?

Also, I take a probiotic everyday, which is better: eating yogurt or taking a probiotic or both?

Thanks again for all the great info!

    Blessings & Grace to you!

    • Hello Jesse so good to meet you and I am so happy that I could help. So good to hear that you are taking advantage of this superfood that has so many benefits. There are different brands of yogurt that are consider to be of more value when it comes to choosing the healthy ones even do other less cheaper brands still offers some help.

Now as for choice of yogurt, Wallaby Greek plain-low fat yogurt, Fage total 2%Greek yogurt, Stonyfield organic whole milk greek yogurt plain and Dannon whole milk vanilla yogurt  are just a few of the healthy ones. When it comes to taking probotics I would use both methods even though some may see it differently.

Hope this helps, all the best of healthy and success. Have a good day.

  3. This is very reassuring, because I love to eat yogurt every morning for breakfast. I also like to put it in smoothies and eat it that way too.

    I have one question though.

Would you say some yogurt is actually not good for you? For example the kind that has lots of sugars?

I think peronally the ones without the sugar are the best. What do you think?

  4. Hi Norman,

thanks for sharing the benefits of Yogurt with us. I do love yogurt very much, especially Greek yogurt. Not to mention frozen yogurt. Whenever I go into a shopping center to just stroll around and do window shopping, a frozen yogurt is usually on the list.

I did not know about all the benefits of yogurt, in fact, I had never thought that it was so beneficial.

Oh… and I forgot to say that plain natural yogurt, without any added sugars, is my favorite. I love to add a little honey with almonds and nuts. It reminds me of a great natural yogurt vendor that was across the street of the college where I studied. Went there often to buy one of those delicious homemade yogurts that he offered.

    Thanks again for sharing,
    Oscar
