  2. I love sunflower seeds and this article gives me a reason to eat them more often. I had no idea they were loaded with so many different vitamins.
You talked about sunflower seed oil in its benefits as well and I wondered if you had suggestions on how you could use it. Can you use it in place of vegetable oil and etc for cooking or is it better for a no heating type like mixed in dressing or for seasoning? I have not tried sunflower oil before and would like to.

    • Hello Christina so good to meet you. Sunflower seeds are so beneficial for us. Using the oil in salads but in modertaion is good. Some research has shown that cooking with this oil is not healthy because of the chemical changes the oil goes through once heated. Hope this helps. Have a good day.

  3. This is some pretty interesting information here. Didn’t realize sunflower seeds are so good for you. Guess I’ll be looking for these next time I go to the grocery store.

Question though. Are the seeds that come in the shell just as nutritious? I’ve had them at ball games and military training, but they seem pretty salty.

  4. Hi Norman,

I love sunflower seeds; I eat them almost every day with my muesli for breakfast. I try to give the seeds to my kids, but they only like them when they are a bit heated on the stove. I’ve read somewhere that the seeds release a toxic when they are heated. Do you know something about this?

Thank you for this useful post!

    • Hello Daniella so good to see you, sunflower seeds are really great. Now as for heating them, flaxseeds have been said to release toxins when heated but as for sunflower seeds I have never heard of it releasing toxins when heated but it is always good to play it safe so instead of heating them I would mix them with other nuts and include a few raisins for and amazing taste. Hope this helps and a Merry Christmas to both you and your love ones. Have a wonderful day.

  5. Thanks for sharing the benefits of eating sunflower seeds! I often overlook this seed when shopping because I don’t like to eat them raw or by themselves (a taste preference, I guess). I would like to incorporate them more into my diet, however, and your post has inspired me to try making some granola or trail mix with them soon. Have you tried sunflower butter? It’s super creamy and delicious and I love it on toast. Thanks for your article!

    • Hello Shannon so nice to meet you. Sunflower seeds are really great and can benefit us in so many ways. When it comes to daily servings however this factor depends on activity level and age for the most part but I would say a fear daily serving can be about 1-ounce. Hope this helps all the best to you and have a good day.
