Fighting Infections with Cranberries

Healing Naturally with Cranberries

Cranberries are one of my favorites, these berries are used in so many desserts, and other products such as yogurts, drinks, vitamins, candies, gums and so on. But why I love cranberries also is that you can use these berries to help fight infections.

The use of cranberry juice has been used by many for a long time to help the body fight infections, now to some this juice may have somewhat of a sour taste but it really works. My wife doesn’t like the taste, she says it is sour and avoids drinking it because of this.

On the other hand, both my son and I love it, in fact, at the time I am writing this we have been giving him cranberry to fight the infection that he has.

You get the best of both worlds when you use this juice to bring healing naturally, first you will be getting the vitamins from this juice and secondly you will be getting rid of the infection. Now there are cranberry cocktail, cranberry juice, and cranberry drink.

While cranberry cocktail and cranberry drink may have some nutrients, cranberry juice has a greater advantage because it is all-natural. Drinking cranberry juice has also been known for helping to fight the common cold.

What causes urinary tract infections?

Studies have shown that urinary tract infection is caused when bacteria enter the urinary tract, when this happens the bacteria begin to multiply.

Why cranberries?

According to medical studies, the active ingredients that are found in Cranberry juice has been found to have an adverse effect on the bacteria that causes this infection.

Signs or symptoms include:

1. Burning when urinating.

2. Back pain.

3.Pressure in the lower back.

4. Urge to urinate.

5. Urine having a foul smell.

6. Urine may appear to be cloudy and red.

7. Chills.

8. Fever.

9. Feeling tired.

Seek medical attention right away if you have any of these symptoms.

You will be asked to perform a urine test and if it is a urinary tract infection you may be given antibiotics.

  1. Your article is clear and to the point. I really appreciate your focus on one great product. I use Cranberries often in salads or just grabbing a snack. You are right on it is a great bacteria fighter. I have had many Urinary infections in my lifetime and had to take antibiotics. It is not pleasant. Believe me you know if you are getting a Urinary infection. Thanks for this terrific article. You refreshed my focus on how important it is to keep bacteria away from your urinary track. I believe it is better to be safe than sorry. I will pick up some Cranberry juice at Whole Foods and drink a glass each day. Will a glass a day be a good preventative? Or should it be more? Do you do your own juicing? Thanks Again.

  5. This is awesome information. As a naturalist minded person I am always trying to find another way to avoid taking prescription pills for ailments. We were given all these fruits, veggies and herbs for a reason. I usually go with oregano oil for infections, but I can almost say without a doubt that cranberries will taste much better. One of these days I may ask you for permission to link to your awesome information on my own site!

  8. Thank you for sharing this information. I also love cranberries, strawberries and other berries too. But I have always only just eaten them as a fruit rather than drinking cranberry juice. I think eating them as a whole is better than juice, would that be right? If so, what do you think is the benefit of taking cranberry juice instead of just eating it as a fruit?

    • Hello Daniel it is so good to meet you, You can get more benefit by eating the fruit, but some people prefer to drink the juice in once shot than having to eating loads of fruit. Hope this helps, all the best to you and have a good day.
