  2. I love to make Gyozas (Japanese dumplings) which I buy ginger root for. I end up with a bunch left over as it is a pretty strong root. Do you have any other suggestions on how to use ginger root in cooking? So many benefits, and yes it does work wonder for colds and the flu. Keep the crud away and helping to feel better. I just don’t know what to do with my left over portion of the root.

  4. Wow! I had no idea ginger root is so good for the body. I have used powdered ginger in some recipes, but I know the fresh stuff is probably better. What is the best way to store ginger root? How long will it last? Do you need to keep it refrigerated? Thanks for the info!

    • Hello Leslie so good to meet you and I do apologize for the long delay in answering. Ginger roots are really beneficial and can do a whole lot of good. Now as for your question, there are many ways to preserve this root. One way you can try is to clean your ginger root, if it is more than one piece that you want to preserve

then after clean, put each piece in a separate piece of foil and wrap tightly. Then place each piece in plastic bag and making sure that all of the air is out of back seal bag and place in the freezer.

This well really last a long time until you need it. Hope this helps, all the best to you  and have a good day.

  5. Norman, your site is very informative. I keep organic ginger slices (the size of quarters) in the freezer so it’s always ready to throw in a smoothie, juicing, recipes, tea, whatever. I never run out. I keep ginger candies on hand for motion sickness when I’m flying or on a boat. I don’t love the ginger flavor unless it’s mixed in a recipe. With one candy I can go from car sick to being able to read in the car! Amazing. Be careful though bc some ginger candies don’t actually have any ginger in them. Like Newman’s Own. So check labels. Ginger is also a natural antiviral so when I add it to my morning smoothie/juicing I rarely get sick. I do get tired of it and stop using it, so if I do feel something coming on I start adding the ginger back in.
