  1. I’m so glad I came across this post. I’ve loved pineapple for years but never thought of the health benefits other than vitamin C.
Living in New England, fresh pineapple is not available so we tend to buy canned. Even if we purchase whole pineapples (thinking they’re fresh)…they are not.
The first time I vacationed Hawaii, I had the thrill of eating real fresh pineapple picked that morning. I was immediately in love.
I’ve published blogs on my website about what super foods we all should be eating and pineapple is definitely one of them.
    Thanks for opening my eyes.

  2. These facts never cease to amaze me. I did not know you could cut the top off, and then have the top grow into a full, juicy pineapple! And then it takes a full two years to grow. So that top is going to take a while. Do you put it in water or soil? How do you get it to grow. I like having my kids do this…sounds fun!

    • Hello my dare friend I hope all is going well with you, now onto the pineapple some persons after cutting will soak the top in water for about two or three days and then plant, soil such be and organic rich soil for nutrients and proper drainage. Also make sure that soil dries out between watering because pineapples don’t like wet feet, given sufficent sunlight you should be well on your way. Hope this helps my friend and it is always a pleasure to hear from you, hopefully one day Gods willing I meet you in person thanks again and have a good day.

What I didn’t know is that it takes two years to mature. It’s well worth the wait. I also didn’t realize all of the health benefits of the pineapple. Not did I know there was an island that grew them. I thank you for your wonderful insite. Now, is there any advice you have for me to make sure my pineapple plants grow to maturity?

  5. Norman,
Several times I have planted the top of a Pineapple in a flower pot, to grow another fruit. Being part of the Bromeliad family, they have a tall leaf and look good in your outdoor garden area, just have to watch the sharp edges of the leaves. I have been able to mature only one to the point of having fruit, as you state it does take two years and I live in an area that does get quite cold in the winter.
I did not know all of the health benefits from the Pineapple. Thanks for the information.

  6. I had no idea the pineapple had so many health benefits and the fact that it helps bone strength is interesting to me as I recently broke the fibula bone in my leg. I’m guessing the benefits would come with the fresh fruit more so that the juices. It’s hard to find fresh pineapple where I live in Canada but i do see them on occasion. I’ll definitely be purchasing the next one I see. Thanks for the info.
