  1. I would have never guessed that Strawberries are a member of the rose family! I was also surprised that they don’t continue to ripen. I do know that they get moldy fairly quickly. Anyway to prevent this from happening, besides eating them right away? And 200 seeds in one strawberry, wow! These facts are great, thank you!

And just look at all those benefits! I could really use some of those! I’d definitely make it a daily fruit if I could!

  4. Hi Norman,
I absolutely love strawberries. You can pretty much have them with anything. I knew they were good for you but I had no idea they had so many health benefits including aiding weight loss. I loved your fun facts and I was interested to learn that California is the largest state producing strawberries. I’m planning a trip to the States next year so I’m definitely going to California to find some strawberries.

  5. Hey there,

Very interesting information. I knew strawberries were good for you but didn’t think they had so many benefits. The fun facts are certainly fun and interesting too.

I am going to start buying more strawberries at home and encouraging my wife and kids to eat them. The fact that they have so many vitamins and nutrients along with health benefits such as memory gain, anti aging, weight loss aid, and reducing blood pressure make it a must have fruit.

Are they just as beneficial when you mix them with other fruits?

  6. Excellent site, full of amazing tips and information. It really is a one stop shop for nutritional value. Do you have a section for pistachio nuts? I would absolutely use this site for information.

Not much I could say in terms of improvement, I’m sure you know where you want to take it. Perhaps shorten some sentences but that is just a personal preference of mine.

    Anyway Good luck!

  7. Hi there,

Excelent article and some interesting and fun facts! even though it is obvious, I never actually realised or even thought about the fact that the seeds grow on the outside.

Also, Strawberries are one of the fruits highest in Vitamin C content and nitrates, making them great for the heart and high in water content also.

  8. I just loved your article about trees that I had to check some more of your blogs.
I appreciate the descriptive list about strawberries. There are some things I did not know about them such as them being part of the rose family. Next time I eat a strawberry I may start smelling roses. 😉

I just love strawberries and the fact that they are one of the first fruits to ripen in the spring just make them that much more enjoyable.
Then you have the health benefits…what else can we ask for in a fruit.

I have heard that strawberries tend to have the most exposure to pesticides due to the fact that the seeds are on the outside. Do you know if this a fact or fiction? If it is fact what is the best way to ensure the exposure to these pesticides is minimal?

Keep up the great work and information you are doing here. Look forward to hearing your answers.
    Cheers
    Paul

    • Hello Paul it is so good to hear from you again and you asked a good question. Strawberries like apples, peaches and grapes are among the fruits that is greatly expose to pesticide. The challenge that growers having been faced with for a long time is how to grow strawberry crop without the use of pesticides, even organic grown crops are expose to pesticides. So one method that growers have been trying is using a soil fumigant but even this poses harm to those who are applying it, the solution to this is not that simple even though field test has and is being carried out to grow strawberry crops in a more safe way.

I know that this answer may not help much but at this point all we can continue to do is hope that a sure and more safe solution would be found soon. All the best to you thanks again and have a good day.

  9. Oh Strawberries! I love strawberries. I can remember as a child eating so many strawberries that I literally made myself sick.

It’s an inspirational article to me because as I’ve become older I’ve moved away from eating the healthy fruit that I used to love as a kid. I think I’ll get back into strawberries. I do live in California who as you say seems to have no shortage of strawberries.

Do you worry about pesticides? Do you only eat your own grown strawberries? Do you buy organic?

Thanks again for the great read. Geoff.

    • Hello it is so good to meet you and thanks fro stopping by. Strawberries are great with there many benefits, the down side of this is the pesticides that are being use on crops, Soil fumigants are being use by growers to avoid using pesticides but this in itself is still not that safe. Field test are being carried out by growers to see if a more safe way can be found. Even the organic is said to be treated with pesticides, yes this is serious. I guess at this point we can limit how much we eat until a more safer method is found to grow them. All the best to you and have a good day.
