Giving Your Body what it Needs
We live in a world where people are always on the go, there are some persons that literally eat breakfast on the run while heading out the door or evening when driving on the streets I have also seen persons with breakfast or lunch in their hands eating and going about their daily task. It is no wonder why so many people get such an energy crash.
We should not just eat what comes to our hands but rather plan our meals, get up a bit earlier so that we can have a good breakfast along with spending a part of the first morning hours with our families. Our food gets to digest better this way.
Energy Boost
Now I know there are times we may have an energy crash, but the key is not to reach for something that will give you a quick sugar rush or a burst of energy, but for the healthy foods that will benefit you in so many ways.
For example
If you reach for junk foods because of an energy crash you will get that sudden burst of energy but the downside to this is you will be creating an unhealthy lifestyle and secondly just as quick as you get that energy rush it will plummet just as fast.
This will have you feeling more drained with a greater craving for something to eat, so you go and fill up again on more junk and the cycle continues and before you know it, you would have created bad eating habits that will work against your health like putting on a few unneeded extra pounds.

It is amazing to know that there are so many natural options to boost your energy. I have to be honest, normally I just buy one of those energy drinks but now I see that there are some easy options instead. Educating about healthy/natural eating is a great job. Will look forward to more articles!
Hello again I am so happy that I could help, and we should do all that we can to maintain good health. All the best to you and have a good day.
Hello Norman,
Sometimes it’s so difficult to eat healthy with are busy schedules. Health bars are really good but some of them are just full of sugar. Nuts are good source of vitamins and easy to carry but which ones do you think are the best. Do you have any suggestions?
Hello Nikos it is so good to meet you, what you can try is bonk breaker peanut butter and jelly, oatmega chocolate coconut crisp, and Annies double chocolate chip health bar. Hope this helps, all the best to you and have a good day.
You mention juicing is a good energy booster. I’m interested to hear this. I had assumed that as juice was full of sugar it led to a short term sugar high and then a low. Am I wrong?
Also.. what is a health bar, it would be great if you could elaborate.
Hello again thanks for commenting, the sugar that is found in juice is natural compared to artificial sugars that is found in soft drinks, this is why soft drinks will give you that quick fix and then that quick low again. Natural sugars are different. As far as health bar is concern, you can try nature valley protein, luna fiber, power bar, fruit free bars. These are just a few that you can try, hope this helps, all the best to you.
Hi again Norman! I had to take a look around your site as I am drawn to it. It may be because I absolutely love the color green you use, or because I love the name of your site (because it is the first garden right), or because it is very informative.
I am especially interested in energy boosting, as I just turned 60 and realize I need to make some changes to stay ‘young’. I agree with you that PLANning is key to healthy eating. Also, I don’t know if you heard this, but a Dr. whose newsletter I subscribe to says that eating fruit out of season (winter months) is detrimental to fat loss and can cause you to gain weight. He said that your body thinks it is summer and turns the sugars into fat to store for the winter months. Have you ever heard of this? He is Dr Gundry and you can look him up on YouTube. Anyway, love your site and all you bring to the ‘table’!!!
Hello, it is so good to meet you, glad that i can help and thanks a million for those kind words. We should all do that we can to boost our energy. You live and you learn, this is something new to but their may be some truth to this. Thanks for those kind words, all the best to you and have a good day.
Thank you for sharing this. I am on a health food kick and I have been searching for the perfect food to boost my energy throughout the day, so the suggestions came in very handy. I’ll keep u posted on what I settle on.
Great article. The information was very helpful.
Hello Oliver it is so good to hear from you, I am glad that I could help. All the best to you and have a good night.
This is just the thing I needed to read today. I have been making an effort to eat a little healthier the last few weeks, but my energy hasn’t improved all that much. I’m definitely going to be adding more fruits, nuts, and whole grains to my diet.
I’m also curious – are there any specific health bars that you personally recommend? I know that several are loaded with carbs that lead to inflammation and weight gain, etc., so I generally steer clear from most
Thank you so much for this informational article, it was very helpful!

Hello Cameron it is good to meet you and thanks or sharing, these are a few bars that you can try. kind cashew and ginger spice, kind dark chocolate chili almond, annie’s gluten-free oatmeal cokkie granola bars. Hope this helps, all the best to you.
Hi Norman,
Very nice article, clear and to the point. I’ve been considering going Vegan as I’ve started to take my health and happiness a lot more seriously after an incident that happened to me a couple of years back.
I also stopped eating most meats a couple of months back but do occasionally eat seafood. I’ve never really eaten much junk food but definitely could do with more grains, nuts and pulses in my diet.
Being from the city, and not being introduced to it, I don’t know anything about gardening and growing my own veg. You’re right when you say that everyone is always on the go.
Within the next two weeks i’m going to volunteer on an organic farm to take a time out from the city. I’m worried though as I honestly will have no idea what I’m doing aha. Have you got any articles on your site that you would recommend I read as a complete beginner?
Wish me luck! Grace
Hello Grace it is so good to meet you and I am glad that I could help. Sorry to hear about your incident a few years ago, but it is good that you are making some changes to your life. Gardening is not that hard except for the physical part of it that can really give you a good workout depending on what you are doing.
There are a few articles that I have written on gardening and organic gardening, gardenofedengardencenter.com. Hope this helps, all the best to you have a good day.
Hi Norman,
I really liked your article!
This article just came in time as I have a lack of energy lately and I didn’t know what to do to boost it!
I am happily surprised that yogurt offers so much energy as love this food! Just a question, please. My mother told me that dark chocolate boost energy. What do you think?. I will be a dream if chocolate gives some power as I am dying on chocolate:)
Thank you very much for this excellent post and look forward to reading more of them!.
Hello Daniella it is so good to see you again, hope all is well. Thanks for those kind words and I am glad that I could help. Studies shows that eating dark chocolate once or twice a week has been proven to boost energy level, hope this helps. All the best to you and have a good day.
Hi Norman. I totally love fruits and have used it as my quick energy source. It tastes good, a natural sugar (means we won’t get fat eating it a lot) and healthy as well.
But the downside is it can be expensive some it’s not really filling our stomach as much as other grains, it’ll end up to cost quite a bit of money =)
Hello Issac it is so good to see you again, and it is also good to know that you have made fruits a part of your diet. Thanks for sharing, all the best to you and have a good day.
