I was a huge bananas fan until i went to the local market place and i saw that they bring green bananas, put them in a room with i dont know what kind of gas, and after 24 hours, take them out yellow. I dont know if those bananas are healthy or not, but i stop eating. Aniway if you live in a country where bananas grow naturaly an you can pic them fresh, then i believe that eating bananas is good for health.

  3. I love bananas very much but don’t eat them often because they are also high in sugar. When I do eat them, I eat the ones that are still a bit green, this way they have less sugar. I also find that bananas help with leg cramps as they are high in potassium.

  4. Cool fun facts! 🙂

I used to eat bananas only for three days straight to a week to jump-start an erratic weight loss diet fad I was following.

I think it works because of the ability to cleanse our colons and therefore release bowels more than needed (water weight loss).

Of course, it’s not good for health in the long run.

Nowadays I am a little wiser so I don’t do it anymore, LOL. However, I still eat it every morning to keep my digestive system clean. It sure makes you go to the toilet minutes after eating it.

I also eat it when my gastritis attacks.

    • Hello my wonderful friend it is so good to see you, Bananas are great and is enjoyed by millions around the world especially at breakfast time. Eating unripened or green bananas is not good because eating bananas at this stage can cause constipation because of the amount of starches that they contain. And the flip side of the coin, according to studies ripen bananas should be eaten in moderation because consuming to many ripen bananas can cause tooth decay. Hope this helps, all the best to you and have a good day.

  9. Oh yes, i love bananas and I eat at least one almost every day. One thing I never understood, though, is this: they say you should not eat a banana when it’s still green, because it is hard to digest and does not contain all the good stuff you get in a ripe banana. Is it really true? I love the sour taste of a slightly green banana, because I find the ripe one too sweet, and I don’t seem to have any problem digesting it…

  11. I saw the comment above about bananas going through a gassing process to ripen quicker. Do you know if organic bananas go through that gassing process also? My son gets sick when he eats bananas but I wonder if he ate organic bananas if it would be different for him. Have you found any more info. on this?

    • Hello Elisa it is so good to meet you and you have asked a very good question. First of all, sorry to hear about your son that gets sick from eating bananas, I understand your concern. Non-0rganic bananas are sprayed with synthetically made ethylene gas so they can ripen more quickly. But on the other hand organic bananas are wrap or placed in plastic bags and what happens is the bananas releases natural ethylene gas themselves that causes bananas to ripen, because of the natural gases being trapped. Hope this helps, all the best to you an have a god day.
